Being able to travel independently and safely is a critical part of dealing with vision loss.
NABA Orientation and Mobility specialists provide instruction in safe travel skills and ways to establish and maintain orientation, in the home or out in the community.
Orientation and mobility services assist the individual to gain better spatial awareness and travel independence. Lessons are individualized, taught indoors and/or outdoors, and may incorporate the use of a human guide, cane skills, and public transportation. Use of non-visual sensory information is incorporated into training, as well as use of existing vision aided by low vision equipment as relevant.
