Youth Services

Youth and Teen Programs

The NABA youth program provides recreational and rehabilitation programs to blind and visually impaired youth ages eight through eighteen in a 14-county service area.

A strong emphasis is placed on providing vision rehabilitation instruction as well as important opportunities for socialization and building lasting friendships. One Saturday per month, during February and April school breaks, and for two weeks each summer, the program offers a wide variety of activities on-site and throughout the community. Students get a chance to practice orientation and mobility techniques, gain confidence in advocating for themselves, and improve daily living skills.

NABA is proud to host its own Youth Goalball league one Sunday per month. Goalball, the premier team sport for blind and visually impaired individuals, is played competitively in 112 countries. Under the leadership of an experienced coach, and a partnership with Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, visually impaired, blind, and sighted youth come together to compete in a fully integrated environment.
